served in IR spectrum. The inactivated lividomycin A consumed 6.2 moles of periodate for 24 hours as does lividomycin A (5.9 moles). Methanolysis of the inactivated lividomycin A (refluxed in 0.4 N hydrogen chloride in methanol for 6 hours) gave 3'deoxyparomamine, methyl lividotriosaminide phosphate and a small amount of methyl lividobiosaminide phosphate. These results indicate that the inactivated lividomycin A is a monophosphate at either the 2or 5-hydroxyl group of the ribose moiety in lividomycin A. Moreover, results of pmr decoupling experiments indicate that C-2 position in the mannose moiety (2""-H: £4.43, J=1.5, 3.0Hz)and the C-3

Synthesis of lividomycin A 5''-phosphate, an enzymatically inactivated lividomycin A.

Sir: As described in the preceding paper1}, lividomycin A2) (I) is phosphorylated to its 5r/-phosphate by ATP and an enzyme prepared from Escherichia coli K-12 ML1410 R-81 carrying R factor and Pseudomonas aeruginosa TI-13. This structure of the phosphorylated and inactivated lividomycin A was proposed from chemical evidence and pmr data. In this communication, the synthesis of lividomycin A 5/...

Isolation and Characterization of Two Lytic Bacteriophages Against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Evaluation of Their Antibacterial Effects on Clinical Isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in The Northwest of Iran

Background and Objective: This study was carried out to isolate lytic bacteriophages against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and analyze their biological characteristics and antibacterial effects on other clinical isolates of bacteria. Methods: Isolating two lytic bacteriophages against two strains of P. aeruginosa was carried out using the double-layer agar method. After investigating the antibacteria...

3"-phosphoryldihydrostreptomycin produced by the inactivating enzyme of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Escherichia coli carrying R factor was reported by Umezawaet al.l\ and Takasawa et al.2) to produce an enzyme adenylylating streptomycin, and E. colt carrying another R factor was reported by Ozanne et al.3) to produce an enzyme phosphorylating streptomycin. Though a resistant Pseudomonas was also observed by Doi et al.^ to produce an enzymeinactivating streptomycin in the presence of both ATPa...

Activity of lividomycin against Pseudomonas aeruginosa: its inactivation by phosphorylation induced by resistant strains.

The antibacterial activity and enzymatic inactivation of lividomycin, a new aminoglycosidic antibiotic, were studied with 13 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The minimal inhibitory concentration of lividomycin was 12.5 to 25 mug/ml, and three strains were resistant to high concentrations of lividomycin (more than 200 mug/ml). It was found that P. aeruginosa TI-13 and K-11, highly lividomycin-...

Cells of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Ten strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were disrupted and centrifuged. The supernatant fluids from centrifugation at 105,000 X g contained enzymes inactivating kanamycin, neomycin, and streptomycin in the presence of adenosine triphosphate. Kanamycin-inactivating enzyme was precipitated with ammonium sulfate at 66% of saturated concentration, and the inactivated kanamycin was shown to be kanamyc...
